Smithsonian Institution's 150th Anniversary Aug 10, 1996

August 10th & 11th 1996 - Washington DC - The Smithsonian Institution celebrated the 150th Anniversary of its founding with a Birthday Party on the Mall. The festivities include 23 pavilions which stretched from 3rd Street to 14th Street and represented all the museums and several research facilities and offices. The new Castle tower bell is dedicated and rung for the first time. On the evening of the 10th, there was a concert and Fireworks by Grucci over the Castle and the Washington Monument.
